Let's Get Poppin'

May you all have a great
Independence Day.
May you enjoy your
fireworks displays.
May your cookouts
be even more spectacular.
May your ears truly
hear freedom ringing.

She's up there-Old Glory-where lightnings are sped,
She dazzles the nations with ripples of red,
And she'll wave for us living, or droop o'er us dead-
The Flag of our country forever.

-F.L. Stanton

If you see truth, you shall see glory.

Party Crasher

Crashing
Down
Down
Down
Plunge, smash, fatal hit.

Automatous ailment,
Contaminated contraption,
Diseased device,
Gadgetry gout,
Instrument infirmity,
Malignant machinery,
Mechanical malady,
Pathogenic processor,
Terminal technology,
Viral invasion?

I have spent the better part of today backing up all my important files. Actually, my only important files are my pictures. I feel a computer crash coming on. Until I find out what is up with my computer, I wanted to make sure my digital photos are not lost. So, now I can begin my witch hunt. If you don't hear from me soon, you'll know the zombie killed me. Or perhaps I finally succumbed to the virus. Has a computer ever died of worms? I'll have to get in my time machine because my computer went back to 2002!

For my brother...

Everybody needs an Uncle Stevie...

Uncle Stevie never wears shirts with sleeves.
In being the ultimate gamer, he believes.
He passes on video games when he is through.
He even regularly buys & gives them brand new.
Uncle Stevie likes weapons, guns are his preferred.
Each nephew gets a gun or two, maybe even a third.
He will tell the boys tales, "I learned this in the army."
It's true he never served, they know he's being smarmy.
Uncle Stevie loves to find a sale, quite the bargain shopper.
His visits are usually gift giving, always a show stopper.
He is really not very fond of getting his picture taken.
So you'll know, he reminds me of a burger with some bacon.
Very truly, the boys love their uncle dearly
because his frequent visits bring on recess cheerily.
It's true he'd never ever let my kids feel needy
but if I could change it, I would have the Uncle Stevie.

Update:

My brother is now calling me "French Fry". He took me & the boys to lunch today. So, CHA-CHING, my insanely awesome poetry is already paying off!

It's Time

My feet are free
Toes painted
Warm sand
Cool water
The sound of a flip
or was that a flop?

Make Haste!

My latest poem was conceived today, concocted from need, borne of exasperation...

Make Haste!

Make haste, make haste!
Graciously step aside, practice forbearance.
Do my needs not exceed your own?
Don your patience & tighten your resolve.
I have laid possession & will not relinquish it!
Though my dominion here be fleeting,
It will reign until my departure.
My successor is a clamorous groaner.
Is the sight of a closed door so loathsome?
What greater torture could be bestowed?
I have never heard of death from biding one's time.
Although, admittedly, I have entertained the idea myself.
Thusly lives the household with one bathroom.

THE WORDS AFTER

The words before
Called down curses
Brought wrath
Separated
Choked with death
Truth came
Breathed new life
Reconciled
Imparted peace
Asked for blessings
The words after.

Ok, so this is the poem I wrote as a description for the title of my blog. I haven't figured out how to put it in poem form on the title. So, I will post it here & hopefully figure it out later. I hope you understand the idea.
I have enjoyed reading the blogs of my brothers & sisters. I wanted to join in hopes of sharing with you too. I am still figuring the whole blog thing out. I may have questions for you!
